OUR MISSION
We believe in enhancing people's lives while creating a sense of community.
What is Hockessin Athletic Club? HAC is a place where 400 employees, 8000 adults, and 4000 children come together to form a community that is health conscious, family-friendly, and fitness focused. We strive to not only empower our internal community, but to also be a supporter of the community in which we reside. We enjoy watching your children grow and aiding in their education, giving you a much-needed place to de-stress from our ever-busier and more-connected lives, and celebrating your goal-achievements and fitness successes. HAC is what the people who come here make it, and we think that’s pretty darn special.

THE
TEAM
HAC Staff
Our team is made up of more than 400 individuals, each passionate about their respective portion of the club and HAC’s overall mission to enhance lives while creating a community. Each department selects individuals with careful consideration to best reflect our values while delivering expertise and excellent customer service.

Owner,
Bob Carpenter
I have always had a passion for the fitness industry, and before HAC came to be, I owned Pike Creek Fitness Club on Mermaid Boulevard. The facility was originally a racquetball club built in the 1980s, but we converted many of the courts and areas to service the needs of our members. As time went on and the ability to meet the needs of our members’ families grew more difficult, I knew that the only way we’d be able to meet those needs was by starting over. I partnered with Roger Ralph, well-known in the industry for building the beautiful family-friendly Bel Air Athletic Club, and the dream of Hockessin Athletic Club became a reality.
HAC opened its doors on June 10, 2007 after the transformation of a 11.5 acre mushroom processing site. Today, HAC is the only tax paying health club in the United States bordered by a state park. The effective use of the land for both the club and beautiful Tweed’s Park reflects the cooperative effort of the Delaware Department of Transportation, HAC, and the Hockessin community.

General Manager,
John Peoples
At HAC, we understand that the definition of fitness is unique to the individual. To some, it is the challenge of an intense effort that leaves you breathing hard and soaked in sweat, while others prefer the mindfulness of yoga or Tai Chi. What is most important is that you achieve the results you are looking for.
We offer one-stop shopping for all your family’s fitness needs. With the convenience of over 100,000 square feet of floor space, we provide programming for members starting as young as six months old. We offer 150 + group fit classes per week, not only in our studios but in our heated pools as well. Combine that with free childcare, spacious locker rooms which include both a steam room and sauna and an in-house Café, and it is easy to see why you will see so many of your neighbors when you visit.
If you are already a member here, we thank you for your business. If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit us yet, I encourage you to take advantage of our free day pass and come in to see what we are about.
We look forward to meeting you.
